Anime Evolution, Aug 13-15th, You're Invited!
Anime Evolution Gaming Anime Evolution is Vancouver's premier event celebrating Japanese animation, manga, gaming, and every kind of related fandom. Our featured activities include interactive panel discussions with industry guests, cultural demonstrations, 24-hour video rooms, cosplay contests, an AMV contest, a charity auction, evening dances, and creative workshops. We also offer LAN, tabletop, LARP, and console gaming rooms.

This year we are happy to introduce our gaming tournament, The Gauntlet. The Gauntlet is a tournament style battle between hardcore and casual gamers alike, until only one contestant remains. Each round will feature a different type of game, hosted by a local gaming club or organization (that specializes in that type of gaming). To win, you must successfully pass each challenge of The Gauntlet according to the rules laid out at the beginning of each round by the hosting group.

Anime Evolution’s focus is entertainment, community and cultural diversity in a fun, family friendly, inclusive and accessible setting. Preregistration for Anime Evolution is open until June 30th.

Looking for some D&D 3.5 Gaming
A friend of mine and I have recently decided that we've had quite enough of this 4th edition business; after nine sessions, we've decided that most of what's been changed between editions is ultimately a step in the wrong direction. Since our 4th edition group has thus disintigrated, and we're not tremendously interested in playing with them anymore anyways, we're now looking for a new 3.5 group to take part in.

We're really, really looking for a group to whom roleplaying is paramount. We're past the point in our lives where we can really enjoy playing in a group where the other player characters are mute sets of stats with no more personality than the average MMORPG character. We do our best to create characters who are as rich and as personality-driven as the protagonists in any fantasy novel, and we're desperate for a group with a similar approach.

Anything out there?

Hello? (Echo)
So, does anyone still use this community? If so, anyone know where I could possibly get my game on? Either Table Top RPGs or CCG's where do people hand out and just Nerd it up and geek it out?

Werewolf: Wild West books

Hey, all.

I've got a friend who's interested in running a Werewolf: Wild West game for our group. He's got the modern-day W:tA books available, but none of us have any Wild west ones. He's been doing his reading and preparing from a bloody PDF.

So, we're wondering about acquiring some of the books, especially the core rulebook, in dead tree format. If anyone has one (especially in or around British Columbia) that they're willing to sell, please do give a heads up; we can talk.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

Hey, all.

I'm looking for a copy of Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria for PS2. Used, you know? The only copy I've seen around is a new one in Metrotown's EB, and it's new, priced around $70, which is more than I'm interested in paying.

Anyone have a copy they're willing to sell, or know where I might acquire one?

Calling all gamers - your knowledge is needed
I'm starting up a fairly ambitious project, and I'd like to beg a little of your time in the beginning stages. If you wouldn't mind going to

http://www.twistedreality.com.au/rpg/index.php?title=Category:Systems

and

http://www.twistedreality.com.au/rpg/index.php?title=Category:Companies

looking over what I've already got there and leaving a comment here (or email me directly) with any that you know of that I've missed, or corrections for any that I have wrong (particularly the White Wolf stuff - I don't know enough about them to be sure) I'd appreciate it.

Please don't actually enter anything into the wiki as yet - I'll be calling for contributions a little later. I want to get the categories correct before I do that though.

Feel free to pass this along to anyone else who might be able to help. I've done what I can from my own memory and library but I'm certain there's probably more that I don't know about than those I do.

Thanks!

Old Mage: the Ascension Rote List
There was a list of rotes at the end of the Mage: Storyteller's Companion or in Sorcerer's Crusade. I was wondering if anyone could scan this one page and email it to me, particularly as a PDF. I only need this page. I am breaking in new mage players and due to personal reasons needed to leave all gaming material in Pennsylvania, USA.

You could email it to me at lordmystick@yahoo.com

All the best,

S_Ed.

Childs Play 2006
Child's Play recently added Vancouver's Children's Hospital on there list of Hospitals to donate too.

If you've spent time there, donating or voluteering, or even getting the word out might be a good way to say 'thank you for the help'.

Calling all Browncoats and other Firefly fans...
The Firefly Fan-Series "Into the Black" is filming at Club 23 on Sunday, November 26 around 3pm. Club 23 is located at 23 West Cordova, which is near Hastings and Abbott.

They are filming a bar scene, and the general style of dress is similar to that of Firefly, probably best to call it cattlepunk.

They need extras. They need to fill the bar with people. That's where you come in.

So, if you're interested, come down to Club 23, on Sunday, around 3pm.

Call 778-389-2362, after noon on Sunday, if you have any questions.

Hello fellow gamers from Vancouver!

Did anyone pick up a copy of Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS? If so, I would like to try out the Mognet mail system on someone.

Dreamblade
So, I've been playing this game a little bit and it's pretty cool. Definitely an interesting twist on the "there can be only one" approach that I usually take to my gaming. I've got a couple of starters and 4 boosters and already I'm getting a lot of common duplicates. Does anyone else have a lot of duplicates? All I've really got to trade are commons, but if I can find someone who's got lotsa commons that I don't have, and vice versa, then I figure we could do a decent trade.

Anyone?

Guitar Hero
Anyone want to sell me a Guitar Hero controller? Or know of any stores not on the internet where I can buy one, without the game itself?
Maybe I'll just wait until Guitar Hero II comes out and get another controller with that one.
